Lent & Easter at University UMC

Tell Me Something Good: Grounding Ourselves in the Good News

Lent and Easter invite us to slow down and listen for what brings life and hope. This season at University United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, we are gathering around the theme Tell Me Something Good, making space for stories of grace, justice, healing, and love—wherever you are coming from.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to belong here. Whether you are certain, uncertain, curious, questioning, or simply in need of something good, you are welcome to come as you are and journey with us through this season.

What Is Lent?

Lent is a season of reflection and preparation—the forty days leading up to Easter (excluding Sundays). It is a time to remember our humanity, acknowledge our brokenness, practice repentance, and open ourselves again to God’s transforming grace.

Throughout Lent, we will explore the many ways the good news takes shape in our lives:

  • Good news that welcomes everyone

  • Good news that surprises us

  • Good news rooted in love, justice, mercy, and faithfulness

  • Good news that shows us what is possible together

  • Good news that inspires us to act

Each week, scripture invites us to ground ourselves again in God’s abundant love and hope for the world.

Holy Week & Easter: The Good News Alive in the World

As we move through Holy Week, we follow Jesus’ journey toward the cross and beyond—remembering that God’s love does not rely on violence, power, or fear, but on self-giving love and resurrection hope

.

On Good Friday, we reflect on Jesus’ crucifixion and the good news revealed through nonviolence, forgiveness, and love even in suffering.

On Easter Sunday, we celebrate the heart of our faith: Christ is risen. The resurrection announcement in Matthew 28 reminds us that death and darkness do not have the final word. The good news is alive in the world—calling us into new life, courage, and joy.

There is no king but Christ, and all are invited into this hope.

Join Us for Worship During Lent & Easter

Throughout Lent and Easter, we invite you to join us for worship as we explore our seasonal theme, Tell Me Something Good. In our weekly Sunday and Thursday gatherings, we will reflect on the good news that welcomes us, surprises us, challenges us, and sends us into the world with hope and purpose.

In addition to our regular weekly worship, we also offer special services during Lent, Holy Week, and Easter—each marking a significant moment in the story of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. These services create space for deeper reflection, prayer, and celebration as we move through the season together.

Whether you join us for one service or walk with us through the entire season, you are welcome here.

Tell Me Something Good: A Daily Devotional for Lent & Easter

To help us journey through Lent and Easter with intention, UUMC staff are writing a daily devotional book to accompany this season’s theme, Tell Me Something Good. Each week offers scripture, reflection, prayer, music, silence, and invitations to acts of service—creating a gentle rhythm to stay grounded in the good news.

The devotional is designed to be flexible and accessible, whether you engage daily or return to it when you need a pause.

Devotional books will be available in early February.
Printed copies will be available during worship services, and an online version will be available here on the Lent & Easter page.

Tell Me Something Good: A Daily Devotional for Lent & Easter

During Lent, we offer several weekly small group opportunities for connection, reflection, prayer, and community. Each group will use the Tell Me Something Good Devotional as a foundation for discussion and sharing, helping us stay grounded in the good news together throughout the season.

Small groups begin the week of February 22, 2026.

Childcare is available with an RSVP.
