What Is the UUMC Foundation?

The University United Methodist Church Foundation was established in 1981 to provide long-term financial support for the mission and ministry of University United Methodist Church. As a charitable organization operating under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the Foundation receives, manages, invests, and stewards gifts entrusted to it by individuals and families who wish to strengthen the future of the church.

Through careful stewardship and responsible investment, the Foundation helps ensure that the ministries of University UMC continue to flourish for generations to come.

How Will My Gift Be Used?

Donors may direct gifts toward a specific ministry, scholarship, project, or purpose that reflects their passions and values.

Undesignated gifts are invested and stewarded by the Foundation to support the ongoing mission of University United Methodist Church. Annual distributions are carefully managed to preserve the long-term strength of the Foundation while providing meaningful support for ministry today.

The Foundation exists solely to support the religious, educational, scientific, and charitable purposes of University United Methodist Church.

Supporting Education Through Scholarships

Opening Doors for Learning and Growth

At University United Methodist Church, we believe the love of Jesus Christ transforms lives. Our mission is to share that love through our words and actions, and one way we do that is by investing in education.

The generosity of past and present members has established a number of scholarship funds that help students and families pursue educational opportunities. Through the UUMC Foundation, these gifts continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of students and families each year.

Academic Scholarships

The Foundation administers several scholarships that support undergraduate and graduate education, including:

The Kum-Duble Scholarship, established by the Kum-Duble Sunday School Class in 1978
The Peek Scholarship
The Sturges-Brian Scholarship
The Dorothy and Edward A. Collins Scholarship

These scholarships were created to assist students as they pursue post-secondary educational opportunities and prepare for lives of service, leadership, and learning.

Child Development Center Scholarship

The Lois Pruett Williams Scholarship Trust was established in honor and memory of Lois Pruett Williams. This scholarship provides financial assistance to parents who may find it difficult to afford tuition for their children enrolled in the University United Methodist Church Child Development Center (UUMC CDC).

Scholarship Application Information

Applications for Foundation scholarships are submitted through a single online application process. Before applying, please review the Scholarship Information Sheet for eligibility requirements, application instructions, transcript requirements, and reference information.

Scholarship awards are offered twice each year:

Spring Semester: Late November – January 1

Fall Semester: Late April – June 1

All scholarship awards are distributed directly to the educational institution identified in the application and are contingent upon the student's enrollment. If enrollment is delayed, scholarship funds will not be issued. Scholarship recipients may reapply for future consideration, subject to program requirements and eligibility criteria.

Foundation Leadership

The UUMC Foundation is guided by dedicated church leaders who serve as trustees, providing faithful stewardship and oversight of Foundation resources. Their responsibility is to ensure that gifts entrusted to the Foundation are managed wisely, invested responsibly, and used in ways that strengthen the mission and ministries of University United Methodist Church for generations to come.

Trustees serve without compensation and work alongside qualified investment professionals and advisors as needed to help safeguard and grow Foundation assets. Together, they honor the generosity of donors while supporting the long-term vision and ministry of University UMC.
