MEDIA POLICY

Photography and Video Recording Notice 

In this digital age, University United Methodist Church (UUMC) regularly documents our worship services, events, and ministries. By participating in our public services, ministries, and community events, you are entering an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. 

How We Use Media

Images, audio, and video captured on church property or during church-sanctioned events may be used by UUMC to record, promote, and celebrate our church ministries. This includes, but not limited to: 

​

  • Informational and General Updates: Bulletins/programs, newsletters, website galleries, announcement slides, and church social media platforms.

  • Promotional and Marketing Materials: Event flyers, ministry brochures, digital advertisements, and banners.

  • Livestreaming and Broadcasts: Online worship services and event recordings available to the public.

 

Media Use Policy 

  • Photos and videos are almost always of people in public spaces and/or at public events. 

  • We will not knowingly post anything that would be embarrassing, objectionable or hurtful to anyone in a photo or video. 

  • Photos of minors in large group settings or general ministry activities may be published without names. 

  • To ensure the privacy of children and adults, the use of full names or personal identifying information requires verbal approval for adults and written or digital approval for minors from the parent or legal guardian. Copies of this form are available in the church office and by accessing the link below.

  • If copyright for a photo or video is held by someone other than UUMC, we will receive permission to post it and gladly provide credit if desired by the photographer. 

 

Media Removal Request

If you find a photograph or video on our website or social media platforms that features you or your child and you wish for it to be removed, please contact us immediately. We will review and remove the content promptly upon request.

Media Opt-Out Form

If you or your family prefer not to be photographed or filmed during a service or event, please notify a staff member. We provide designated "media-free" seating areas for your comfort. 

 

Some persons may choose not to have their photos, or photos of their children, used and we respect their wishes. Therefore, we are providing a Media Opt-Out form for individuals or families who prefer NOT to have photographs of themselves used by the church. If you have no objection to the use of your photos, you do not need to sign or return this form. Copies of this form are available in the church office and by accessing the link below.

Permissions for Use of Our Media and Content 

We ask for your respect in return. Unless otherwise indicated, photographs and videos are the property of and are copyrighted by UUMC and may not be used for any purpose (including but not limited to: downloading, printing, distributing, linking) without permission from UUMC. We grant permission for limited sharing of our media and content. You may share YouTube Videos, website articles, and social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). You may link to our posted content but may not download and share content on a personal web page without permission. Please add attribution to UUMC for any media you share with permission.
