About the event
Ash Wednesday Service
Tell Me Something Good: All Are Invited
Ashes are an ancient symbol across cultures and religions, reminding us of both our humanity and our dependence on God. In Genesis, God creates humanity from the dust of the earth and later declares, “you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” The Hebrew word translated as dust also appears elsewhere in scripture as ash.
On Ash Wednesday, we join Christians around the world in receiving ashes—a practice dating back as early as the 10th century—as we begin the season of Lent, the forty days leading to Easter. This service invites us to remember our humanity, acknowledge our sin, practice repentance, and ground ourselves again in the good news of our Savior’s grace.
All are invited to this meaningful time of worship and reflection.
