About the event
Ashes are an ancient symbol across cultures and religions. In Genesis 2 and 3, we see God create humans out of earth's dust, and later remind a newly sinful Adam and Eve "you are dust, and to dust you shall return." The Hebrew word we see as dust here is translated elsewhere in Scripture as ash. The imposition of ashes at the beginning of Lent (the 40 days leading to Easter) can be found as early as the 10th century. Join University and all children of God around the world as we seek to remember our humanity, our sin, our repentance, and our Savior. We'll have 2 identical services at 12.30 and 6.30pm this Ash Wednesday.
