Greetings from University United Methodist Church!

We would like to take a moment to tell you what we do for the children at University and their families. We would be happy for your kids to join in the music, learning, and fun that happens every year here at University!

Childcare

Nursery

University offerschildcare for infants and toddlers during Sunday School and Worship. Certain special events may also include childcare. Contact the event coordinator or the church office for more information.

University Child Development Center (preschool)

Evening Groups

Children’s Music

Our Children’s MUSIC program is for children ages 4 through 6th Grade.  The Children meet at 5:30pm on Sundays (there is no music when the kids meet for Mission Kids). The older children begin the evening with handbell rehearsal while the young ones have activities just for them. Then they all come together for children’s choir. This is a wonderful time for the children to learn music and fellowship together. The children will have opportunities throughout the year to perform in our worship services. The music groups take a break during the summer and begin again when school starts. See you in the fall!

Mission Kids!

Mission Kids is a program that will teach children about outreach and mission work.

The photo on the left show University UMC Mission Kids collecting and delivering Prayer Bears to Cooks Childrens Hospital.

Our Mission Kids have also done missions with Ronald McDonald House and the Presbyterian homeless shelter.

We invite all 2nd through 6th graders to join us. Mission Kids meets one Sunday each month during the school year at 5:30pm. We look forward to seeing you in the fall!

Sunday Morning Opportunities

Children’s Rotation Sunday School

Our rotation Sunday School teaches children major Bible stories and concepts through kid-friendly workshops: art, cooking, theatre, video, computers, music, storytelling, and games. The same story or concept is taught for 5-6 weeks through different workshops to reiterate the important message. Kids not only love the repetition, but they need it to establish a long lasting memory and understanding of the content. Our rotation is for children ages 5 through 6th Grade located on the 2nd floor in the children’s wing. Sunday School starts at 10:00 AM.

Nursery

Sunday Morning Nursery is a place where children (infants and toddlers) are in age-appropriate rooms where the child receives loving care and attention. The nursery is available on Sundays from 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM and located on the first floor in the Child Development Center.

Worship

All children of all ages are welcome to join us with their families in either Sunday morning worship service: Traditional Worship at 8:45 AM and Contemporary Worship at 11:00 AM. During both services the children are invited to come to the front and sit with our pastor for a short lesson during children’s time. Every Sunday morning we, as a community of faith spanning many generations including our children, gather together to worship the living God through music, prayer, scripture, and the Word.

Special Events

Confirmation

All 6th and 7th graders are invited to participate in a series of programs in which the basics of the Christian faith are explored in an atmosphere that encourages personal decision making and a commitment to Christ.  If you have a child interested in participating in Confirmation, please contact our senior pastor Jason Hamilton.
